School Of Music Faculty Recital Series Continues With APPropos!
Sings Love Songs
BOONE – The Hayes School of Music Faculty Recital Series
presents “APPropos! Sings Love Songs,” Tuesday, Nov.
2.
The recital will start at 8 p.m. in Rosen Concert Hall at Appalachian
State University’s Broyhill Music Center. Admission is free.

“APPropos! Sings Love Songs” will feature love songs that
have spanned generations. Solos include Nancy Hamilton’s
and Morgan Lewis’ “How High the Moon,” Cole Porter’s “In
the Still of the Night” and Harold Arlen’s and E.Y.
Harburg’s “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” along
with several other selections. Two ensemble pieces and one instrumental
will also be performed.
Faculty vocalists include Julia Pedigo, Priscilla Porterfield,
Mary Gayle Greene, Randall Outland and Joseph Amaya. Instrumentalists
include Arthur Unsworth on piano, William Gora on saxophone, Rick
Dilling on percussion, and Jeremy Downing on bass.
Unsworth has high expectations of the concert. “The concert
includes a great variety of moods and tempos,” he said. Priscilla
Peebles will perform “Once Upon A Time.” Joseph Amaya
will sing “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning.” Mary
Gayle Greene will sing “How High the Moon” and Outland
will perform “On a Clear Day.’”
There is also a little humor during the recital with Randall Outland
performing “Makin’ Whoopie.”
Joseph Amaya will perform the Latin composition “Besame Mucho” and
Greene will perform the classic “Autumn Leaves.”
