Bolyard receives Robinette scholarship from Appalachian State University

D05Bolyard_Eric04.jpgBOONE—Eric Christopher Bolyard of Murfreesboro, Tenn., has received a $1,100 Fred T. and Priscilla S. Robinette Scholarship for Appalachian Student Ambassadors.

A senior accounting major at Appalachian State University, Bolyard is the son of Robert and Sharon Bolyard.

The scholarship was established and funded by family members, colleagues and friends of the Robinettes. Fred Robinette founded the Appalachian Ambassador program in 1977. The ambassadors are a 40-member group that serves the university’s alumni, admissions and chancellor offices.

The scholarship recipient must be a junior or senior at Appalachian, have and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be a member of the Appalachian Ambassador organization. The applicant should show evidence of and be an active participant in Appalachian Ambassadors and other university and community activities.Applicants should show evidence of leadership, academic integrity and commitment of service to the university through active participation in ambassador functions.

Bolyard became an Appalachian Ambassador in February 2005. He was a member of the organization’s executive committee in 2005-06. He also is vice president for public relations for Pi Sigma Epsilon business fraternity, and a member of the Appalachian Honors Association, Beta Alpha Psi accounting fraternity, Beta Gamma Sigma business fraternity, Mountaineer Maniacs Leadership Council, Habitat for Humanity and the ASU Adopt-A-Grandparent Association.

Bolyard also is a Chancellor’s Scholarship and Pricewaterhouse Coopers’s Accounting Scholarship recipient for 2006-07.
