Senior Class Gift will help the Appalachian Fund

BOONE—As a way to help create a tradition of student giving, Appalachian State University’s Class of 2012 has started a Senior Class Gift. Seniors Tommy Ratliff and Glenn Steadman are co-chairs for the initiative.

BOONE—“We fell in love Tess.” With those five words Jay Reardon, president of Hickory Chair, announced the winner of the 7th Annual Chair Design Competition at Appalachian State University. The competition is organized by Appalachian’s Department of Technology and Environmental Design.

Appalachian’s first dual-degree program begins this fall

BOONE—This fall, Appalachian State University begins its dual degree program in communication with Universidad de las Américas Puebla in Mexico.

Rising sophomore Shannon Trudeau of Carthage will be the first student from Appalachian to participate. Three students from Mexico will begin the program on Appalachian’s campus this fall.

Science workshops for teachers offered at Appalachian

BOONE—The Math and Science Education Center at Appalachian State University will offer summer science workshops that will focus on essential curriculum standards established by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction.
