Voices of the Civil Rights Movement three-part series opens Monday, April 25

BOONE—The Center for Judaic, Holocaust, and Peace Studies, the Center for Appalachian Studies, as well as the Africana Studies program, Black Faculty and Student Association, Black Student Association, the College of Arts and Sciences and a number of other organizations and departments around the Appalachian State University campus are hosting a three-part series on the voices of the Civil Rights Movement, April 25 through April 26.

Talk on combating anti-Semitism in Europe presented March 25

BOONE—Rabbi Andrew Baker will speak on “Combating Anti-Semitism in a Changing Europe: Confronting Old Demons and New Threats” March 25 at 7 p.m. in Belk Library and Information Commons Room 114 at Appalachian State University. His talk is sponsored by the university’s Center for Judaic, Holocaust, and Peace Studies as part of its Spring Semester Forum Speaker series. The public is invited to attend.

Social Justice Week events held March 19-28

BOONE—Social Justice Week will be held at Appalachian State University March 19 – 28 featuring events addressing contemporary global issues such as human trafficking, drone use, LGBT rights, education, poverty and genocide.
