Vahlbusch named dean of The Honors College

BOONE, N.C.—After an extensive national search, Dr. Jefford Vahlbusch has accepted the position of dean of The Honors College at Appalachian State University effective July 17. Dr. Vahlbusch comes to Appalachian from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, where he currently serves as the Director of the University Honors Program.

BOONE—Eric Burton, a senior geography major in Appalachian State University’s Honors College, could be the poster child for the university’s General Education program – a course of study that promotes critical and creative thinking; effective communication; making local-to-global connections and understanding responsibilities of community membership.

Creative students invent a language and society in honors course

BOONE—Creating a language and related society as part of a junior level honors seminar at Appalachian State University taught students about grammar, language structures, global communities and, in the process, more about each other.

“Perception” exhibition on display at Looking Glass Gallery

BOONE—“Perception,” an installation work of artist Rachel Ginder, is on display through Feb. 5 at Appalachian State University’s Looking Glass Gallery. Ginder is a senior psychology and art major.
