Appalachian’s solar vehicle team places third in the Formula Sun Grand Prix

WAMPUM, Pa.—Appalachian State University’s solar vehicle team, Team Sunergy, has taken third place in the Formula Sun Grand Prix at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania.

Under heavy cloud cover and some rain, the team completed the race on July 28 with a total of 414 laps, behind Principia College with 454 laps and University of Michigan, which took first place with 518 laps.

Appalachian’s solar vehicle team qualifies for 2016 American Solar Challenge

WAMPUM, Pa.—On the first day of a three-day qualifying race, Appalachian State University’s solar vehicle team, Team Sunergy, qualified for the American Solar Challenge Tuesday, July 26, at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania. The team is currently in third place overall.

Partnership helps promote hydrogen railway project in Mooresville

BOONE – The increasing price of diesel fuel, the need to reduce carbon emissions, and the high cost for railway electrification require alternatives to diesel and electric trains. The long-term solution to these challenges is the development of hydrogen-based propulsion system for railways.
