LUNAFEST short films festival to be presented at Appalachian April 6 and in Boone on April 7

BOONE, N.C.—LUNAFEST – an annual fundraising festival of short films dedicated to promoting awareness about women’s issues, highlighting women filmmakers and bringing women together in their communities – will be presented in two local screenings in April.

Appalachian’s Department of Anthropology to host panel on Middle East; two guest professors will be featured April 5

BOONE, N.C.—On April 5, the Department of Anthropology at Appalachian State University will host guest speakers Dr. Zainab Saleh and Dr. Ziad Abu-Rish for a panel discussion titled “Perspectives from the Middle East: Iraq and the Levant.” The discussion, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 3:15 p.m. in Room 114 of Belk Library and Information Commons on the university’s campus.

Dr. Michael Thomas Smith of McNeese State University to deliver Civil War Speaker Series lecture April 20
