Community Music School to present recital April 30

BOONE—Students in the Community Music School in Appalachian State University’s Hayes School of Music will present a recital Saturday, April 30, in Broyhill Music Center on campus. Admission is free.

The recital will be directed by Laura Cho Stokes.

Students in the piano program will perform at 1 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. The piano instructors are Hannah Gore and Jasmine Tilden. Eleven students will perform.

Piano and vocal students will perform at 2 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Recital Hall. Vanessa Van Valin is the voice instructor, Jonathan Asbell is the voice accompanist and Hannah Gore is the piano instructor. Ten students will perform.

Piano, guitar and violin students will perform at 2 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Hannah Gore and Bair Shagdaron are piano instructors, Chelsea Whittaker and Kelsey Philbrick are violin instructors and Justin Butler is the guitar instructor. Sixteen students will perform.

The Community Music School is a program of Appalachian’s Hayes School of Music. The school provides non-credit music instruction for children and adults in the local community as well as surrounding Western North Carolina counties.
