Appalachian Chorale to perform May 3

BOONE—The Hayes School of Music’s Appalachian Chorale will perform Tuesday, May 3, at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall on the Appalachian State University campus. Admission is free.

The Appalachian Chorale features 73 singers and will be conducted by Linda Larson and accompanied by Joby Bell, Ling Hsiao, students Shane Watson and Zach Bowyer, and James Stokes on trumpet.

The chorale will first perform “A Song of the Road” by Jonathan Santore based on a Robert Louis Stevenson poem and “Sure on this Shining Night” by Morten Lauridsen based on a poem by James Agee.

“Frostiana” by Randall Thompson will then be performed based on the poetry of Robert Frost, followed by “Stomp Your Foot” from “The Tender Land” by Aaron Copland.

The chorale will conclude the recital with “Ave Verum Corpus (Hail True Body), K. 618” by Mozart.
