McCandless joins Appalachian’s College of Fine and Applied Arts

BOONE—Meghan M. McCandless has been named a public information specialist for the College of Fine and Applied Arts at Appalachian State University.

McCandless has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in advertising and psychology from the UNC School of Media and Journalism. She also holds a Master of Arts Degree in integrated marketing communication from Florida State University’s College of Communication and Information.

“I am excited about the addition of Meghan to our staff,” said Dr. Glenda Treadaway, dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts. “She brings a wealth of experience in communications and I am looking forward to working with her.’

As public information specialist, McCandless will coordinate publicity, media advisories and media requests for the College of Fine and Applied Arts. She also will coordinate special events and assist departments in the college as needed. McCandless will manage the college’s website, social media and internal communications, including writing and designing the college’s internal newsletter.

McCandless previously was communications director at Lees-McRae College, a marketing and communications specialist and an internal communications specialist for the Florida Virtual School, and publications and promotions coordinator for Florida State University’s Career Center.
