Appalachian named a “Best College Value”

BOONE—Appalachian State University is one of 300 institutions named a “Best College Value” in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance list for 2016.

Appalachian is listed 28th in Kiplinger’s list of Best Values in Public Colleges in terms of value for in-state students and 30th for out-of-state students. The university ranked 133rd among public and private institutions.

The Best Value list is based on quality measures that include admission rates and test scores of incoming students, and financial data based on in-state costs for institutions on the public school list and out-of-state costs on the combined list of public and private institutions.

UNC Chapel Hill was listed No. 1 in terms of in-state value, followed by N.C. State University, 11, UNC Wilmington, 41, UNC Asheville, 48, and Western Carolina University, 73.
