Acapellageddon 2015 will be held Nov. 15 at Appalachian

BOONE—Acapellageddon, Appalachian State University’s annual a cappella competition, will be held Nov. 15 on campus. This year eight groups will take the stage at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts to compete for various prizes beginning at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the event will go on sale on Nov. 2. Advance tickets are $5 for Appalachian students. Tickets for the general public and at the door will be $7. Tickets may be purchased at the Schaefer Center box office, by calling 262-4046 or online at http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/TicketPurchase?organ_val=21217.

The competition will be fierce, and the performances will be dynamic and entertaining as the groups battle to the top.

About the groups

Lost in Sound is one of the oldest co-ed a cappella groups at Appalachian. They perform a number of times each year and have a variety of songs.

One Acchord, formerly known as Streets Ahead, is an a cappella group whose No. 1 goal is to have fun. They sing because they love music and build family around it.

Voicemale is an all-male a cappella group. They say they are just a bunch of guys who dance and sing on stage in a crazy fashion that cannot be replicated anywhere else.

Ear Candy is an all-female a cappella group. They have been awarded “Best All-Female Group” at Acapellageddon for the past four years.

Treble Attraction is Appalachian’s original all-female a cappella group. They perform a variety of arrangements. Kinship and community is an important aspect of the group.

Higher Ground is Appalachian’s first all-male a cappella group. They are a group of guys from different backgrounds and walks of life who have come together to make music.
The Mountain Ayres are Appalachian’s newest all-female a cappella group. They are a talented group of singers with a variety of songs ranging from Disney tunes to today’s hits.

Enharmonix is a co-ed a cappella group on campus. They claim to be Appalachian’s most diverse a cappella sound with a set list that includes genres in pop, country, hip-hop, alternative and more.
