Brass ensembles at Appalachian perform Nov. 4

BOONE—Students in the Hayes School of Music brass studios will perform Nov. 4 at Appalachian State University beginning at 6 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.

The ensembles performing are the Appalachian Tuba/Euphonium Collective, Appalachian Trumpet Choir, Appalachian Trombone Choir and Appalachian Horn Choir.

Compositions to be performed during the evening performance include the overture to the opera “William Tell” by Gioachino Rossini, “Mars: The Bringer of War” from Gustav Holst’s “The Planets,” “Suite for Five Trumpets” by Ronald Lo Presti and “Providebam Dominum” by Orlande de Lassus.

Also on the program are “Reflective Mood” by Sammy Nestico, “Children’s Prayer” from Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” and selections from “Legend of the Sleeping Bear” by Eric Ewazen.
