Coffee with a Cop held Oct. 7 in Trivette Hall

BOONE—Appalachian State University students, faculty and staff are invited to meet university police officers to discuss community issues, build relationships and drink a free cup of coffee during Coffee with a Cop Oct. 7 from 9 to 11 a.m. in Trivette Dining Hall’s foyer.

Coffee with a Cop provides the campus community the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work on campus. The majority of contact that officers have with the public usually happens during emergencies or emotional situations. These situations are not always the most effective times for building relationships with the community. Also, some campus community members may believe that officers are unapproachable while on patrol.

University Police wants to remove any barriers and provide an opportunity for relaxed, one-on-one interactions that are the foundation of community partnerships.
