Adcock, Roess and Barnes elected to positions on Appalachian’s Board of Trustees

BOONE—Bradley T. Adcock of Cary, Alice Roess of Blowing Rock have each been re-elected to one-year terms as officers of the board. Adcock will continue as chairman of the board and Roess was re-elected vice chair. Jimmy Barnes of Raleigh was elected to a one-year term as secretary of the board.

Adcock is a 1976 graduate of Appalachian. He retired in September 2014 as vice president for government affairs after a 36-year career with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina.

Adcock served on the UNC Board of Governors from 1997-2009. He was reappointed to his first four-year term on Appalachian’s Board of Trustees in 2009 and a second four-year term in 2013.

Roess was first appointed to a four-year term on the board in 2009 and reappointed to a second four-year term in 2013. She is an active volunteer in civic, charitable and social organizations in the Blowing Rock community.

Barnes is president of NAI Carolantic Realty Inc. He was a founding member of Appalachian’s Board of Visitors. Barnes earned a degree in business administration from Appalachian in 1984.
