Ballet, jazz, samba and swing are part of the Summer Dance Series at Appalachian

BOONE—The Summer Dance Series at Appalachian State University begins June 2 with African dance taught by Sherone Price. The series, which runs through June 25, is sponsored by the Department of Theatre and Dance.

Classes meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning at 5:30 p.m. in room 208 Varsity Gym. In lieu of a class fee, donations are welcome.

The schedule for the 2015 Summer Dance Series is as follows:

Week One
  • June 2, African Dance with Sherone Price, 5:30-6:45 p.m. *
  • June 3, Musical Theatre Dance with Ray Miller, 5:30-6:45/7 p.m. ***
  • June 4, Ballet with Sayward Grindley, 5:30-6:45/7 p.m. **
Week Two
  • June 9, Hip Hop with Joshua Carr, 5:30-6:45 p.m. **
  • June 10, Jazz with Susan Lutz, 5:30-6:45/7 p.m. ***
  • June 11, Pilates with students from Pilates Teacher Training Program, 5:30-6:45 p.m. **
Week Three
  • June 16, Hula Hoop with Barbara Roberts, 5:30-6:45 p.m. *
  • June 17, Samba with Dave Burchfield, 5:30-6:64 p.m. ***
  • June 18, Hip Hop with Eric Fajardo, 5:30-6:45 p.m. *
Week Four
  • June 23, Swing Dance with Kayla Zimmerman, 5:30-6:45 p.m. *
  • June 24, Modern Dance with Emily Daughtridge, 5:30-6:45/7 p.m. ***
  • June 25, Ballet with Regina James, 5:30-6:45 p.m. **

* Children of all ages may attend

** Children ages 10 or older may attend

*** Children with previous experience in any dance technique at intermediate level or higher.
