Coffee with a Cop provides an opportunity for the community to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work on campus. The majority of contact that officers have with the public usually happens during emergencies or emotional situations. These situations are not always the most effective times for building relationships with the community. Also, some campus community members may believe that officers are unapproachable while on patrol.

University Police sponsor the event to remove any barriers that might exist between officers and the university community and provide an opportunity for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction. The campus community is invited to ask questions, voice concerns, or simply get to know officers better.
