David Gee and Lynne Mackey will perform Feb. 24 at Appalachian

BOONE—The Gee-Mackey Duo will present a recital Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Recital Hall at Appalachian State University. Admission is free and the public is invited.

Cellist Gee and pianist Mackey began performing as a duo in 2004. They have performed in venues in Florida, New York, West Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Europe and Africa.

Gee has performed as soloist, quartet member and orchestral cellist and given radio broadcasts on National Public Radio and Spanish National Radio. He has taught at the University of North Carolina, the University of Memphis, Yale University and Coastal Carolina University.

Mackey is director of the Virginia Baroque Performance Academy and tours with the Virginia Commission for the Arts. She has given concerts and master classes with the chamber ensemble Musica Harmonia in Brazil, and was awarded a four-month solo residency in Paris at the Cité des Arts in January 2014.

The duo will perform works by Camille Saint-Saëns, Nadia Boulanger, Claude Debussy, Enrique Granados and Frédéric Chopin.
