BOONE—The Watauga County Firefighters Association is hosting the 2nd Annual Stop! Drop! And Roll! 5K run/walk Saturday, July 5. The fundraising event, open for all ages and fitness levels, will start at 8 a.m. at Boone Fire Department Station 2 located on State Farm Road.
Early registration on or before Wednesday, July 2, is $20, while late registration is $25.
All participants are eligible to win a door prize from a local vendor. Refreshments will be provided for all to enjoy, and T-shirts are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is available behind Fire Station 2 and at Clawson-Burnley Park off Hunting Hills Lane.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Watauga County Firefighters Association and North Carolina Firefighters’ Burned Children Fund. The Watauga County Firefighters Association, which promotes training and education for all firefighters throughout the county, will dedicate its funding for an educational scholarship for a graduating high school student who wishes to pursue a career in emergency services.
The North Carolina Firefighters’ Burned Children’s Fund, a non-profit organization developed by area firefighters to support burn survivors and help prevent burn injuries before they occur, plans to donate its money to UNC Medical Center and Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
