Music for horn featured April 27

BOONE—Music for the horn will be featured Sunday, April 27, at Appalachian State University. The members of the horn studio from the Hayes School of Music will be featured during the 6 p.m. concert in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.

The program includes the first allegro from Mozart’s “Concerto No. 1 for Horn and Piano, K. 412,” performed by Joshua Anderson and pianist Joshua Allman, and the concerto’s second allegro movement, performed by Rachel Styers and pianist Christina Hayes.

Sarah Maccio and pianist Hayes will perform “Aria” by Alessandro Stradella. Joseph House and pianist Hayes will perform two movements from Halsey Stevens “Four Short Pieces.”

Also on the program are the allegro from Reinhold Gliere’s “Intermezzo,” performed by Doug Poteat and pianist Hayes, and Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Romance,” performed by Austin Berry and pianist Sarah Krueger.

The evening concludes with the allegro from Mozart’s “Concerto No. 3 for Horn and Piano, K. 447,” performed by Courtney Russ and pianist Susan Slingland, and “Concertino for Two Horns” by Friedrich Kuhlau, performed by Daniel Harris and Michael Grimes with pianist Jake Hill.
