Duke honored for his leadership and service to Appalachian

BOONE—After 18 years as dean of the Reich College of Education at Appalachian State University, and a career spanning more than 50 years in education, Dr. Charles Duke spent his last day on the job being honored by friends, faculty members, former teachers and others. The occasion included the naming of the college of education building rotunda in his honor.

Amory B. Lovins speaks at Appalachian July 17

BOONE—The public is invited to attend Amory B. Lovins’ talk, “Imagine a University,” at 7 p.m. July 17 in Holmes Convocation Center at Appalachian State University. Admission is free. Parking will be available in campus lots.

Award-winning writer Joseph Bathanti to present Belk lecture July 11

Bathanti_t.jpgBOONE—Joseph Bathanti, North Carolina’s Poet Laureate and a creative writing professor at Appalachian State University, will deliver the Belk Distinguished Lecture Thursday, July 11, at 3:30 p.m. in Room 114 Belk Library and Information Commons on campus. The public is invited.
