Appalachian ranked 18th in Forbes magazine’s best value colleges

BOONE—Appalachian State University’s affordability and value continue to be recognized by national magazines. Forbes magazine recently listed Appalachian 18th among 25 institutions in Forbes’ list of “Best Value Colleges” for 2013.

The information is included in the publication’s larger “America’s Top Colleges” list for 2013, which ranks undergraduate colleges or universities.

This is the sixth year that Forbes has partnered with the Center for College Affordability and Productivity, based in Washington, D.C., to develop a list of 650 institutions that distinguish themselves based on factors such as student satisfaction, post-graduate success and student debt.

Appalachian was listed 452 out of 650 schools for “America’s Top Colleges.”

The publication listed in-state tuition at $6,058 and out-of-state tuition at $18,107 based on 2011-12 costs.

Last year, Appalachian was ranked 32nd in Forbes’ publication “100 Best College Buys.” This year’s list is available online at http://www.forbes.com/top-colleges.
