Photographers wanted for High Country Farm Tour photo contest

BOONE—The High Country Farm Tour photo contest will take place Aug 3-4. Contest participants will take photos both days during the tour from 2-6 p.m. while visiting their choice of the 29 featured farms and breweries across Ashe, Avery, Caldwell and Watauga counties.

Photos should be uploaded to http://FarmTour.BRWIA.org by Friday, Aug. 9. The photos will be judged by Aug. 30. Winning images will be displayed in the Looking Glass Gallery in Appalachian State University’s Plemmons Student Union during fall semester.

The first-place photo will be featured on the front of the 2014 High Country Farm Tour guide.

The contest is made possible by a collaboration between Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture and a Sustainability Arts Grant Award from Appalachian’s Sustainability Council.

Student Leah Jalfon and instructor Courtney Baines Smith from the Department of Sustainable Development were awarded the grant and are facilitating the project.
