Appalachian’s Human Resource Services to move to new location begins May 13

BOONE—The Office of Human Resource Services at Appalachian State University has begun its move to a new location. The move to 330 University Hall Dr. off Blowing Rock Road is expected to be completed by May 15. During the move, human resource staff will remain available by phone or email.

The new facility will provide better access for faculty, staff and job applicants, provide a separate and secure file room for personnel records, and will have a training/conference room that will accommodate as many as 50 people.

“This new facility will provide a higher degree of confidentiality for employees seeking assistance regarding health, employment or other human resource-related issues,” said Patrick McCoy, director of human resource services. Dedicated parking is another bonus at the new location. “Our current parking situation is not very welcoming for new employees and those coming for orientation,” McCoy said.

Walk-ins will be welcome at the new facility, McCoy said, but making an appointment to see a HR representative is always suggested. “We don’t want to discourage anyone from coming anytime to HR Services and will always work to meet their needs,” he said.

University employees and others can travel to the new facility via AppalCart’s pink route, which makes stops at University Hall Drive on the half hour during the academic semester.

“This building is dedicated to providing support for our faculty and staff with regards to their employment and benefits related issues,” McCoy said. “It’s for them.”
