Eighth International Hydrail Conference features international hydrail developments

BOONE—The latest developments in hydrogen-powered railways, called hydrail, will be featured at the eighth annual International Hydrail Conference held in Toronto June 11-12.

Appalachian offers summer workshops for science teachers

BOONE—The Mathematics and Science Education Center at Appalachian State University is offering free developmental workshops for area teachers. The science workshops are offered free of charge and offer continuing education units.

Ceremony May 27 honors those who died in military service

BOONE—Appalachian State University will hold a Memorial Day ceremony May 27 at 7:30 a.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial on the west side of the Dougherty Administration Building. The ceremony will honor those who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. The public is invited to attend.

Taylor named interim chairman of Appalachian’s Department of Art

BOONE—Dr. Jesse Taylor will serve as the interim chair of the Department of Art at Appalachian State University during the 2013-14 academic year, according to an announcement from the College of Fine and Applied Arts. Taylor will serve in the position while the department conducts a national search for a chair.
