Art lecture series begins April 3 at Appalachian

BOONE—Learn about ceramic art and glass sculpture during a spring lecture series sponsored by the Department of Art and the Department of Technology and Environmental Design at Appalachian State University. The public is invited.

On April 3, ceramics artist and assistant professor Janet Williams will present a demonstration at 9 a.m. in Wey Hall Room 119 and an artist talk at 11 a.m. in Wey Hall Room 208.

Williams is the ceramics area coordinator at UNC Charlotte. She has exhibited her work internationally, including the 6th International Biennale in South Korea.

Sculptor Daniel Clayman will talk about his art April 17 at 6:30 p.m. in Belk Library and Information Commons Room 114. Clayman’s sculpture, comprised primarily of glass, stands at an intersection of art and engineering. He is considered one of the masters of glass casting. His work is in major museum collections, including those in Cleveland, Boston and Palm Springs.
