Easterlin named director of Appalachian’s Career Development Center

BOONE—Dr. B. Ray Easterlin has been named director of the Career Development Center at Appalachian State University. He will begin his duties at Appalachian June 2.

Easterlin has served as director of the School of Architecture Career Services and director of Natural Sciences Career Services and Health Advising at the University of Texas at Austin. He also served as associate director of the career center at the University of South Florida and assistant director of career services at Indiana University.

The Career Development Center, part of the Division of Student Development, provides career advisement for undergraduate and graduate students, sponsors career fairs for students, provides job search support including resume development and interview skills, operates the Peer Career Center and coordinates student employment and internships.

“Dr. Easterlin will be responsible for working with faculty and Career Development staff to develop strategic priorities designed to develop stronger employer relations, assist students with gaining experiential opportunities, and demonstrate the importance of a comprehensive career development strategy to assist with preparing students in developing the knowledge, skills and experiences to successfully utilize their education,” said Dino DiBernardi, associate vice chancellor for student development.

Easterlin has an Ed.D. in higher education from Nova Southeastern University, a master’s in college student personnel services from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston.
