Army trombone and rhythm section perform Feb. 7 at Appalachian

BOONE—The T-bone Strategy trombone and rhythm section from the Army Ground Forces Band will perform Feb. 7 at Appalachian State University. The free performance begins at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall.

“Perception” exhibition on display at Looking Glass Gallery

BOONE—“Perception,” an installation work of artist Rachel Ginder, is on display through Feb. 5 at Appalachian State University’s Looking Glass Gallery. Ginder is a senior psychology and art major.

Faculty Recital Series at Appalachian presents “A Musical Potpourri”

BOONE—The Hayes School of Music’s Faculty Recital Series opens spring series Feb. 5 with “A Musical Potpourri” featuring performances by 11 members of the music faculty. The recital begins at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall at Appalachian State University. Admission is free.

Appalachian expands educational opportunities into South Korea

BOONE—Appalachian State University has signed a formal agreement with Chonnam National University (CNU) in South Korea, paving the way for student, faculty and staff exchanges at both institutions. The agreement was signed in December 2012 by Dr. Lori Gonzalez, provost and executive vice chancellor at Appalachian, and Dr. Kyung An Song, interim president of CNU.

Rucco and James guitar duo perform Feb. 1 at Appalachian

BOONE—The Rucco-James Duo, which specializes in the guitar literature of the early 19th century performed on authentic instruments of the period, will perform Feb. 1 at Appalachian State University.

Appalachian ranks No. 8 on alma mater list for new National Board certified teachers

BOONE—Appalachian State University remains in the top 10 list of U.S. colleges and universities whose graduates received certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2012.

Harmonia Baroque performs Jan. 25
