Appalachian Guitar Orchestra performs Nov. 19

BOONE—The Appalachian Guitar Orchestra performs Thursday, Nov. 29, at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free. The program includes compositions by Handel, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Leontovych.

The guitar orchestra will perform the flute suite from Handel’s “Water Music,” “Pacific Coast Highway” by Andrew York, selections from “The Nutcracker Suite Op. 71A” by Tchaikovsky and “Carol of the Bells” by Leontovych.

Students from the guitar program in the Hayes School of Music’s Community Music School will perform Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.”

Daniel Tompkins will conduct the guitar orchestra. Matthew Jones is the assistant conductor. Flutist Grace Halvorsen will be featured on “The Nutcracker Suite.”
