Looking Glass Gallery calls for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 submissions

BOONE—The Looking Glass Gallery is accepting exhibition proposals for the final show of the Fall 2012 semester, as well as proposals for the Spring 2013 semester. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, Nov. 14.

Proposals should be turned in to Appalachian State University’s Office of Student Programs on the second floor of the Plemmons Student Union or by email to Erin Taylor, curator of the Looking Glass Gallery, at LookingGlassGalleryASU@gmail.com.

According to Taylor, this is an excellent opportunity for Appalachian students to exhibit their artwork, receive peer feedback, and gain firsthand experience with the gallery submission and exhibition process.

To apply, the artist needs to submit a completed application form, along with an artist statement, artist biography, and a CD or PowerPoint presentation with images of a cohesive body of work. Application forms can be found on the Looking Glass Gallery website at http://LookingGlassGallery.appstate.edu. Printed application forms are also located outside the art office on the second floor of Wey Hall, as well as outside the Looking Glass Gallery in Plemmons Student Union. The Looking Glass Gallery encourages solo, duo, group and class exhibits, as well as performance and installation.

To assist with the application process, the gallery’s website provides a guide for how to submit a strong exhibition proposal to the gallery. Questions or requests for meetings with the curator should be sent to LookingGlassGalleryASU@gmail.com.

The Looking Glass Gallery is located on the first floor of the Plemmons Student Union at Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. Gallery admission is free.
