NCAMES Lineman Rodeo features skills and knowledge tests

BOONE—Jeremy Walsh, a high voltage distribution specialist with New River Light and Power in Boone, won first place in the written test portion of the 15th Annual Lineman’s Rodeo sponsored by the North Carolina Association of Municipal Electric Systems (NCAMES).

The event was held at Appalachian State University’s intramural fields off State Farm Road.

Events included the popular lineman’s rodeo, the annual meeting, vendor presentations and workshops. During the annual business meeting, New River Light and Power (NRLP) received a 2011 Safety Award for zero lost workdays. NRLP is one of 56 municipal electric systems being nationally recognized for this outstanding achievement.

Also participating in the rodeo from NRLP was Terry Hale.
