Huntington’s Disease (HD) slowly diminishes the affected individual’s ability to walk, talk and reason. Someone with HD will eventually rely on family members for his or her care. One out of every 10,000 Americans has HD. After the onset of the disease someone usually only lives for 10-20 more years. The younger you are when onset occurs, the faster the disease progresses.
