BOONE—Appalachian State University will test its campus-wide siren warning system Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 11:55 a.m. Tests are normally conducted on the first Wednesday of the month. The tone used for the monthly tests is not the same tone used for an actual emergency. Visit http://epo.appstate.edu/siren-warning-system to hear the alert tones.

Hudson Middle School and Caldwell Career Center Middle College win first place at inaugural competition
LENOIR – Donning jackets, hoodies and gloves, more than 200 spectators lined Church Street in downtown Lenoir to support competitors in the first-ever Western North Carolina Gravity Games Soapbox Races on Saturday, Nov. 19. Google and Appalachian State University co-hosted the event in support of science, technology, engineering and math (known as STEM) programs in North Carolina schools. [more]
