Flute recital Sept. 11 features Schneeloch-Bingham

BOONE—The music of Bach, Martin and Peterson will be performed during a faculty recital featuring flutist Dr. Nancy Schneeloch-Bingham on Sunday, Sept. 11. The recital begins at 4 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall at Appalachian State University. Admission is free.

Schneeloch-Bingham is a member of the faculty in the Hayes School of Music. She will be accompanied by Christina Hayes, piano; Scott Kallestad, alto saxophone; Scott Meister, bodhrán; and Susan Slingland, piano.

The program opens with Bach’s “Sonata in B Minor, BWV 1030,” Frank Martin’s “Ballad,” Russell Peterson’s “Trio for Flute, Alto Saxophone and Piano” and “Sliabh Luachra,” a set of traditional Irish tunes.

Schneeloch-Bingham teaches flute and directs the flute ensemble in the Hayes School of Music. She also performs in the faculty woodwind quintet and Harmonia Baroque, an early music ensemble featuring historical instruments. She earned a Doctor of Music degree from Florida State University.

Schneeloch-Bingham has performed with the Western Piedmont Symphony, Salisbury Symphony, Tallahassee Symphony, Kingsport Symphony, and North Carolina Symphony. She is an active member of the National Flute Association, and has performed at the Orlando Convention of the National Flute Association.
