Photovoltaic System Design and Construction workshop to be held June 20-24

Course will serve as preparation for NABCEP certification exam

BOONE – Appalachian State University’s Department of Technology and Environmental Design invites the public to attend its five-day workshop on Photovoltaic System Design and Construction, June 20-24.  Participants will be introduced to the basic concepts, tools, techniques and materials needed to design and construct battery-based and grid-direct photovoltaic systems.

Cost to the general public is $750, while students are eligible for $375. The workshop can enroll up to 40 participants and will be held in room 17 in Kerr Scott/Katherine Harper Hall on the Appalachian campus.

The 40-hour workshop will focus on the key competencies addressed in the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners entry-level photovoltaic systems exam and will include the test at the culmination.  The NABCEP PV Entry Level Program is designed for individuals with interest in the solar field, and is a way to demonstrate achievement of a basic knowledge of the fundamental principles of the application, design, installation and operation of grid-tied and stand-alone PV Systems.
