Summer Dance Series 2011 presented by Department of Theatre and Dance June 8-30

BOONE – The Department of Theatre and Dance at Appalachian State University invites all dancers and dance enthusiasts to attend its 2011 Summer Dance Series that runs Wednesday, June 8, through Thursday, June 30. Classes are every Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 1:15 p.m.

From animal studies to Russian language, Appalachian offers a summer camp variety

BOONE—Summer camp at Appalachian State University offers academic challenges in a variety of areas.

A two-week residential Russian immersion camp will be offered free of charge to qualifying high school students who have studied Russian through the N.C. Virtual Classroom.

Looking Glass Gallery presents “She-Scapes”

BOONE—Looking Glass Gallery at Appalachian State University presents “She-Scapes,” a collection of paintings and prints by Kelsey Michele Hoke, a recent graduate of the Department of Art. The gallery is located on the first floor of Plemmons Student Union. The exhibition will be on view from May 20-June 15. It is curated by Dianna Loughlin.

Campus siren test June 1

Appalachian State University will test its campus-wide siren warning system Wednesday, June 1, at 11:55 a.m. Tests are normally conducted on the first Wednesday of the month. For more information about the warning system, visit http://epo.appstate.edu/siren-warning-system.

Ballard honored for her dedication to the Appalachian region

SBTDC in Hickory adds business counselor Bryon Hicks Jr.

HICKORY – R. Byron Hicks Jr. has joined the N.C. Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) as a business counselor at Appalachian State University.  Hicks has a B.S. in business administration/finance from Elon University and experience as a commercial lender with two premier regional banks.
