2011 Polar Plunge

View larger imageBOONE—The 13th annual Polar Plunge at Appalachian State University on Thursday, Feb. 17, raised more than $8,000 for the Watauga County Special Olympics. A total of 200 plungers participated. All of the money raised will support Watauga County athletes. Prizes were awarded to the most extreme costume for male and female jumpers, as well as to the top fund raising group and individual.

Watauga County Special Olympics’ 2011 Spring Games will be held Thursday, May 5, at Watauga High School.
