New Play Festival Presented by Department of Theatre and Dance Feb. 9-12

BOONE – Appalachian State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents the annual Playcrafters’ New Play Festival Feb. 9-12 in I.G. Greer Studio Theatre. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m.  The festival premieres original plays written, directed and performed by students.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for faculty, staff and seniors, and $6 for students.  The box office is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 2-5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 12-5 p.m. and one hour prior to show time. Patrons can purchase tickets in person or by phone at 828-262-3063.

The three new plays selected for this year’s Festival are:  “Murder at Black Rock Mansion, Part II,” by Jason Edwards; “Mental,” by Ryan Sheehe; and “Kayla,” by Zach Smith.

I.G. Greer Studio Theatre is located in the lower level of I.G. Greer Hall, on the building’s east side. The door faces the B.B. Dougherty Administration Building. Parking is available after 5 p.m. on campus in faculty lots, the College Street parking deck near the Belk Library and Information Commons, and the main parking deck on Rivers Street.
