BFA Senior Studio Exhibition: Fall 2010 presented at Appalachian

BOONE—Catherine J. Smith Gallery at Appalachian State University’s Farthing Auditorium presents the BFA Senior Studio Exhibition: Fall 2010 Nov. 30-Dec. 10. A reception for the BFA Senior Studio Exhibition: Fall 2010 will be Friday, Dec. 10, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Catherine Smith Gallery. The event is free and open to the public.

The exhibit will include work by 10 candidates for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in studio art: Abby Butler, Hannah Ferrara, Erin Ruth Gillespie, Lauren Goding, Alyssa Gurdo, Blake Kennedy, Sam Peeples, Lillian Tew, Allie Trimbur and Sarah Beth Tucker.

In addition, Erin Dobbins, Kurt Eltz, Jaime McKay, and Kelsey Melville will exhibit their works in other venues in Boone. Works in all venues encompass a variety of media, including printmaking, fibers, painting, metals, ceramics, sculpture and installation.

For the past year, the students have worked with Professor Margaret Yaukey and Assistant Professor Jason Watson from the Department of Art.

“The exhibition provides the Department of Art, the Boone community, parents, family and friends an opportunity to gather together and celebrate the accomplishments of our graduating Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) studio students,” Yaukey said. “This year’s group of students has worked tirelessly developing exceptional work in the areas of printmaking, fibers, painting, metals, ceramics, sculpture, and installation. Their perseverance has resulted in an exceptional show that represents the quality and diversity of the art department.”

Watson added that, “This year’s exhibition is exceptionally special in that each student has been working with multiple forms of art media, expanding the boundaries of what the art department really has to offer.”
