Innovation 2010: Business Resources for Success seminar held Nov. 10 in Hickory

BOONE—Award-winning author and innovations expert Dr. Andrew Hargadon will be the keynote speaker at the Innovation 2010: Business Resources for Success seminar Nov. 10 in Hickory. The seminar is cosponsored by Appalachian State University.

The half-day seminar will be held at the Catawba Valley Community College Multipurpose Complex from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration, including breakfast, lunch and the expo, is $45.

Hargadon is the author of “How Breakthroughs Happen: The Surprising Truth about How Companies Innovate.” He will discuss ways businesses leaders can become more innovative by expanding their presence, reducing costs, boosting sustainability, increasing sales and productivity, developing innovative products and cutting lead time.

Hargadon, a professor of technology management at the University of California-Davis Graduate School of Management, has worked with companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Avery Dennison and Canadian Health Services.

In addition to Hargadon’s talk, local businesses that have partnered with educational institutions to develop new products and services and expand into international markets, will be highlighted.
