Appalachian receives $257,106 NSF grant for summer undergraduate research program

BOONE—A $257,106 grant from the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program will fund a summer research program at Appalachian State University.

Classic and contemporary works for wind instruments performed Oct. 10

BOONE—An Oct. 10 performance by Hayes School of Music faculty and students will feature works written for wind instruments. The 2 p.m. performance at Appalachian State University will be in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.

5K Run/Walk planned Oct. 9 to benefit recreation management scholarships

BOONE—The Recreation Management Association at Appalachian State University is sponsoring a 5K run/walk Saturday, Oct. 9, prior to Homecoming. The race starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 9:15 a.m.  The route will circle campus and downtown Boone beginning and ending at the Holmes Convocation Center.

Volunteers sought for research on memory

BOONE—Individuals ages 60-85 are sought to participate in research at Appalachian State University related to emotion and autobiographical memory, the recall of events throughout one’s life.
