Appalachian’s Recreation Management Program Sponsors 5k benefit July 24

BOONE— Students in a recreation program planning class at Appalachian State University are planning, promoting and managing the 3rd Annual Crohn’s and Colitis 5k Walk/Run Saturday, July 24, at 9 a.m. at the Greenway Trail in Boone. The event will be held rain or shine.

Registration begins at 8 a.m.

Entry fees are $10 if received by July 21 and $15 after July 21. Registration forms are available at www.healthpromotion.appstate.edu. Online registration also can be completed at www.pre-reg.com. All registered participants will be eligible to win door prizes.

The event begins and ends on the Greenway Trail at the Watauga County Parks and Recreation Swim Complex area. The course is flat and accessible for all ability levels.

Parking is limited at the Greenway Trail. Additional parking will be available at the swim complex parking lot.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, whose mission is to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. This event is unique in that it gives students an opportunity to have a comprehensive, experiential involvement in the planning process of a public event.
