Sustainability film series features “Fresh”
BOONE—A sustainability film series continues March 23 at Appalachian State University with the screening of “Fresh,” about farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing the nation’s food system. This film is cosponsored by Appalachian’s Sustainable Development Program and Belk Library and Information Commons.
The film will be shown in I.G. Greer Auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
“Fresh” challenges audiences to think about what they are eating. The film celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing the nation’s food system. Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision of our food and our planet’s future.
The film features Will Allen, a former professional basketball player who is now one of the most influential leaders of the food security and urban farming movement; Joel Salatin, a renowned farmer and entrepreneur who promotes sustainable farming and business practices; and David Ball, a supermarket owner who challenges the “Big Box” chains that dominate the economy.
More detailed information about the film is online at www.geology.appstate.edu/filmseries.htm.
The sustainability film series is sponsored by Appalachian’s Office of Sustainability in conjunction with the Department of Geology.
