BOONE – Appalachian Young People’s Theatre presents “Nightingale,” an adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s classic fairy tale. Performances run April 9-11 in I.G. Greer Studio Theatre on the Appalachian State University campus. Friday’s performance begins at 7 p.m. The matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday begin at 2 p.m.
BOONE—Victor J. Stenger, New York Times bestselling author of “God: The Failed Hypothesis, How Science Shows That God Does Not Exist,” will present a free and open-to-the-public lecture, “Is There Evidence for Life After Death?,” March 31 from 5:30-7 p.m. in I.G. Greer Auditorium at Appalachian State University.
BOONE—The inaugural Juanita Tobin Memorial Reading will take place on Thursday, April 1, when poet Shelby Stephenson is featured in Appalachian State University’s Hughlene Bostian Frank Visiting Writers Series. Stephenson will read from his works beginning at 7:30 p.m., in Plemmons Student Union Table Rock Room. He also will present the craft talk “The Craft and the Poem” at 2 p.m. also in Table Rock Room.
