BOONE—The Brantley Risk and Insurance Center in Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business has received a contribution totaling $5,000 from the EMC Insurance Foundation and the Charlotte EMC branch office. The contribution to the “BRIC by BRIC” fundraising campaign will support the center’s activities. [more]

BOONE—Western North Carolina lost jobs for the sixth consecutive month in October, according to data in the Western North Carolina Economic Index and Report compiled at Appalachian State University. The region’s economic activity fell 0.1 percent in October, which follows a 0.5 decline (revised) in September and no movement in July and August. [more]
