Appalachian Gospel Choir performs Dec. 6

BOONE—The Appalachian Gospel Choir presents a program of “Gospel Throwbacks” Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. in Appalachian State University’s Farthing Auditorium. Admission is free.

The choir is directed by Jason D. Thompson from the Hayes School of Music.

Gospel enthusiasts think of throwbacks as the most loved and remembered songs from a previous generation or time, according to information in the program notes.

The repertoire chosen for this concert includes some well-known gospel songs such as “Safe in His Arms,” “Jesus, Oh What A Wonderful Child,” “Your Majesty” and “Oh I Feel Jesus.”

The choir will be accompanied by pianist Michael Alvarado, bass player Joseph Brown, and percussionists Tyron Young, Matthew Faulkenbury, Landon Powell and Kuldeephsinh Chudasama.
