Book reception Nov. 24 at Appalachian for book on county’s architectural history
BOONE—Belk Library and Information Commons at Appalachian State University will host a reception Tuesday, Nov. 24, for the campus and community in celebration of the Watauga County Historical Society’s recently published book “The Architectural History of Watauga County, North Carolina.”
The reception will run from 4-6 p.m. in room 421 in the library. The book’s creators will discuss the project and copies of the book will be available for purchase. Light refreshments will be available.
“The Architectural History of Watauga County, North Carolina” is based on surveys ranging back 30 years to the present, including those undertaken by Appalachian’s Center for Appalachian Studies and housed in the W.L. Eury Appalachian Collection.
The 356-page volume contains more than 600 illustrations in color and in black and white and descriptions of some 300 properties, accompanied by an overview of Watauga County’s diverse architectural heritage.
