BFA senior studio exhibition on display at Catherine J. Smith Gallery

BOONE—Appalachian State University presents the BFA Senior Studio Exhibition: Fall 2009 at Catherine J. Smith Gallery in Farthing Auditorium. The exhibition will be on view Dec. 3-11. It includes work by four candidates for the BFA in studio art. Gallery hours are weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. An artists’ reception will be held Dec. 11 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the gallery.

Appalachian Gospel Choir performs Dec. 6

BOONE—The Appalachian Gospel Choir presents a program of “Gospel Throwbacks” Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. in Appalachian State University’s Farthing Auditorium. Admission is free.

Program on curriculum development in Kurdistan presented Dec. 7 at Appalachian

BOONE—Lori Mason will discuss her experience living and working in Kurdistan and her involvement with the Kurdistan Curriculum Development Project Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. at Appalachian State University.

Student Entrepreneur of the Year – Call for Nominations

Do you have or know of a current undergraduate student at Appalachian who has exhibited exceptional entrepreneurial achievement?

Students who have started businesses, on-campus programming, new clubs and/or organizations, as well as community service projects are all encouraged to be nominated for the 2010 Student Entrepreneur of the Year award. The award will be presented to the winning student at the annual Young Entrepreneurs Symposium on Feb. 24, 2010.

Roberts named executive director of Appalachian’s Learning Assistance Program

BOONE—Jean Roberts has been named executive director of Appalachian State University’s Learning Assistance Program (LAP).

She replaces Joy Clawson who is retiring in December after 30 years of service to the university.

Appalachian holds commencement Dec. 13

Wind Ensemble and Concert Band perform Dec. 6

BOONE—The Appalachian Wind Ensemble and the Appalachian Concert Band perform Dec. 6 at Appalachian State University.

The free performance, directed by John Stanley Ross, begins at 2 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall.

Appalachian Treble Choir performs Dec. 2

BOONE—The Appalachian Treble Choir will be joined by the Hayes Viol Consort and the Appalachian Glee Club for a holiday-themed concert Dec. 2. The program begins at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall at Appalachian State University. Admission is free.

Violinist Nancy Bargerstock solos with Appalachian Symphony Orchestra Dec. 3
