Screening offered by Counseling Center on Oct. 29

BOONE—Confidential screenings for a variety of mood and anxiety disorders will be offered by Appalachian State University’s Counseling and Psychological Services on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m-2 p.m. The tests will be held in the Calloway Room of Plemmons Student Union.

Every year, millions of students are affected by mental health issues. Suicide is the second leading cause of death of college students. This event could make a critical difference either for a student experiencing depression or for students who may know of a family member or friend who is struggling with mood or anxiety issues.

This event is part of the National Depression Screening Day, a one-day event to raise public awareness that mood and anxiety disorders are common and often undetected disorders for which there are many effective treatments, and to identify those students at-risk for these disorders.

For more information about the event, contact 828-262-3180 or lovindm@appstate.edu. To access online screenings students can visit www.counseling.appstate.edu and click “online screenings.”
