Constitution Day program presented Sept. 17 at Appalachian
BOONE—Faculty members from Appalachian State University will present a panel discussion on “The U.S. Constitution: A New President, A New Approach?” Thursday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. in Room 114 Belk Library and Information Commons.
The presentation is part of national Constitution Day and Citizenship Day educational activities.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Marian Williams, an assistant professor in Appalachian’s Department of Government and Justice Studies.
Dr. Greg Reck, professor and chair of the Department of Anthropology, will present “George W. Bush Violated the Constitution and Should be Held Accountable.” Dr. James Barnes, a professor in government and justice studies, will present “From President Bush to President Obama: Signing Statements and Executive Orders.”
Dr. Karl Campbell from the Department of History will present “Religion and the Constitution.” Dr. Brian Ellison, professor and chair of the Department of Government and Justice Studies, will present “Federalism, the Constitution, and Conservative Politics: Easy Fixes for the States Rights Dilemma.”
